Alexandra Kutnick, MA, PhD
Hi there! I am Dr. Alexandra Kutnick, a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Developmental Psychologist. I earned my Ph.D. from New York University, M.A. from Columbia University, and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. My journey has taken me through clinical experiences in hospital settings, research roles, and community-based work, with specialized training in treating substance abuse and complex trauma.
In my practice, I believe in a warm, collaborative, and humanistic approach to therapy. I’m here to work with you to tailor each session to your unique needs and goals. Whether you’re dealing with traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, shame, relationship difficulties, work stress, or major life changes like divorce, new parenthood, or illness, I’m here to help.
I aim to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore how your past and present experiences impact your well-being. I use humor and a genuine, down-to-earth style to make our sessions engaging and relatable. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where you can feel at ease and truly be yourself. Together, we’ll work to uncover insights, build on your strengths, and reduce distress so you can live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

My approach to therapy is dynamic and integrative, using evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) all through a developmental and relational lens. I also have advanced training in psychodynamic therapy, which helps us understand deeper, often unconscious, aspects of your thoughts, behaviors and patterns. With a strong background in trauma work, I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate the challenges of childhood abuse, serious illness, and unhealthy relationship patterns.

I look forward to working with you on your journey to well-being.
